Ghana Water is a billed account, similar to ECG postpaid. There is no meter token. A successful Ewale debit can still take hours to display on the water bill.
Payments happen on Ewale (ewalepay.com or *714*22#), not on this blog.
What you need
- The GWCL account number.
- The name you expect to see when Ewale looks it up.
- Wallet cover for the amount plus any fee shown.
The flow on *714*22#
- Dial *714*22#.
- Choose Ghana Water / water bill.
- Enter the account. Confirm the name. Stop if it is the wrong house.
- Enter the amount. Approve the PIN.
After you pay
Keep the SMS even if the next bill still looks old for a while. A second payment while the first is posting is a second payment.
If something fails
- Wrong account: You paid that account. Paying yours afterwards is extra, not a reversal.
- No token SMS: Water should not send an ECG-style token. Look for a payment confirmation instead.
Confirm the name. Pay once. Use the SMS if the bill is slow to move.
