How to pay an ECG postpaid bill on Ewale

Postpaid is a bill on an account number, not a token. Using the prepaid flow will not clear a postpaid debt.

Pay an ECG postpaid bill in 30 seconds

Pay with MoMo and keep the SMS while the bill updates.

Postpaid customers do not type tokens. They pay an outstanding amount against an account. Ewale’s postpaid row is the correct product. Prepaid is the wrong product even if both say ECG.

Payments happen on Ewale (ewalepay.com or *714*22#), not on this blog.

What you need

  1. The account number on the bill, not a neighbour’s meter number.
  2. The outstanding amount, or a decision to pay part if the menu allows.
  3. A wallet PIN.

The flow on *714*22#

  1. Dial *714*22#.
  2. Choose ECG postpaid (not prepaid).
  3. Enter the account number. Confirm the name on the bill.
  4. Enter the amount. Approve once.

After you pay

You should not expect a 20-digit token. Look for an SMS confirmation. The bill can take time to show as paid on ECG’s side.

No token on purpose

If the menu tries to sell you a token and you are postpaid, you are in the wrong flow. Go back.

If something fails

  • Bought prepaid by habit: That token will not settle postpaid. Pay postpaid as a new transaction.
  • Still showing unpaid: Keep the SMS. Do not pay twice until you know the first debit did not post.

Account number, name, amount, one PIN. That is postpaid.

Dial Ewale now

Keep *714*22# saved. It is the backup that works when an app, OTP, or data fails. One shortcode also pays Ghana Water and TV bills.
