ECG prepaid is not wallet credit in an app. After settlement, Ewale sends a token. That string of digits is the product. Until you enter it on the correct meter, the house stays dark.
Payments happen on Ewale (ewalepay.com or *714*22#), not on this blog.
What you need
- The meter number on the meter body.
- A mobile money wallet with enough balance.
- The phone that receives the PIN and the token SMS.
The flow on *714*22#
- Dial *714*22#.
- Choose ECG / prepaid electricity.
- Enter the meter number. Confirm the registered name. If it is not your household, stop.
- Enter the amount in cedis. Approve the PIN.
- Wait for the token SMS. Type it on the meter keypad.
After you pay
A successful debit without an immediate token is not a reason to buy a second token. Wait, then recover the first one.
If something fails
- Wrong house: A valid token for someone else’s meter cannot be redirected.
- Meter rejected token: Retype carefully. Use the latest SMS. Confirm you are at the meter you paid for.
