Ewale does not silently pull money from a wallet. After you confirm the number and amount, the network sends a PIN prompt to the paying number. Until you approve it, airtime has not been bought.
Payments happen on Ewale (ewalepay.com or *714*22#), not on this blog.
What you need
- The paying number in range, with a working SIM.
- Your PIN. Nobody on this blog or on Ewale chat will ask for it.
- A few minutes of patience if the prompt is slow.
The flow on *714*22#
- Finish the Ewale summary on *714*22#.
- Watch for the MoMo / Telecel Cash / AT prompt.
- Read the amount and merchant name. Approve only if they match.
- Wait for Ewale’s SMS after a successful PIN.
After you pay
A declined PIN means zero airtime. A successful PIN means the sale is in motion even if SMS is late.
If something fails
- Prompt on a different phone: The wallet’s registered number gets the PIN, not always the handset you used to dial USSD.
- Timeout: Check history. If there is no debit, start a new session. If there is a debit, wait.
The PIN is the payment. The USSD screen is only the order form.
