Telecel airtime (the network formerly branded Vodafone) is sold on the same Ewale shortcode as MTN. The menu may still say Vodafone on older prompts. The destination number must be a Telecel line.
Payments happen on Ewale (ewalepay.com or *714*22#), not on this blog.
What you need
- The Telecel number printed as you would dial it.
- Telecel Cash, MTN MoMo, or AT Money with enough balance.
- The handset that receives the PIN prompt.
The flow on *714*22#
- Dial *714*22#.
- Open Telco → Airtime → Telecel (or Vodafone if that is the label).
- Enter the number and check the confirmation screen.
- Enter the amount.
- Approve one PIN prompt. Do not hang up until the session says the prompt was sent.
After you pay
The credit hits the Telecel wallet on that SIM. If you paid for a relative, ask them to check balance before you buy again.
If something fails
- Network name mismatch: Telecel and Vodafone on the menu are the same operator. Pick that row, not MTN.
- Prompt timeout: Check Telecel Cash / MoMo history first. A debit is a completed sale.
- Insufficient balance: The confirmation screen is the amount that will leave the wallet, including any fee.
Confirm the number, then approve once. A second purchase is a second credit.
