The SMS is useless until the meter accepts it. Most rejections are skipped digits, an old token, or standing at a different meter than the one you paid.
Payments happen on Ewale (ewalepay.com or *714*22#), not on this blog.
What you need
- The latest token SMS.
- Physical access to the correct keypad.
The flow on *714*22#
- Turn on or wake the meter display.
- Enter the digits in order. Do not insert spaces.
- Press the enter / blue key the meter expects.
- Wait for units to add. If it errors, stop and compare the display to the SMS.
After you pay
A rejected token is often still unused. Do not assume you must buy another. Recheck digits first.
If something fails
- Old SMS: Use the token from this payment, not last month’s screenshot.
- Wrong meter in a compound: The token is bound to the meter number you paid.
Type what the SMS says, on the meter you confirmed. That is the whole skill.
