Empty units and a feeder outage feel the same in a dark room. One is solved with a token. The other is solved by ECG restoring the line. Buying tokens during a neighbourhood outage only stores units for later.
Payments happen on Ewale (ewalepay.com or *714*22#), not on this blog.
What you need
- A look at neighbours’ lights or a compound meter.
- The meter’s own unit display if you can reach it.
The flow on *714*22#
- Check whether other houses have power.
- If only you are off and the meter is at zero, buy prepaid on *714*22#.
- If the street is off, wait on ECG. Do not panic-buy a second token.
After you pay
Units you buy during an outage should still sit on the meter when the feeder returns — if you entered the token. Enter it when you can see the keypad.
If something fails
- Bought postpaid during a prepaid empty: Wrong product. Use prepaid for tokens.
- Token entered, still dark, street dark: That is an outage. The token likely already sat on the meter.
Diagnose the dark before you spend. Tokens fix empty meters, not broken feeders.
